West pressing Arab, African nations into Russia opposition - diplomat

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - The West is exerting anti-Russia pressure on Arab countries, says Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian President's Special Envoy on the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister.

"We know it and hear relevant admissions: our Western partners are in fact exerting such pressure with respect to Arab and African countries, in particular," he said in an interview with Interfax.

Such pressure is aimed against Russia, he said.

When asked whether such 'approaches' by Western nations were aimed against Russia, he said: "I think they were because it fits well into the absolutely unlawful and counterproductive anti-Russian sanctions policy."

Western partners are scheming against Russia across all areas, Bogdanov said. "I think that such 'work' is being done on all azimuths and various levers of pressure are being used. We know it from our conversations with Arab and African partners," he said.

The full interview (in Russian) will be available on the www.interfax.ru website.
