Kyrgyz police forces will be able to take part in UN-led peacekeeping missions abroad
BISHKEK. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz government has been allowed to send the country's police units to join peacekeeping operations abroad, the presidential press service told Interfax on Friday.
A bill permitting Kyrgyz police forces' participation in peacekeeping efforts in foreign countries was adopted by Kyrgyzstan's parliament on October 16 and was recently signed into law by President Almazbek Atambayev.
"The goal of this law is to legislatively confirm the right of the republic's government to determine all procedures for dispatching police personnel to places outside of the territory of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to take part in UN-led peacekeeping missions," the press service said.
