Rosenergoatom, EDF might broaden NPP cooperation to whole lifecycle

MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Rosenergoatom and Electricite de France (EDF) are discussing expanding cooperation on nuclear power plants to encompass the whole lifecycle of a plant's operation, the Russian state nuclear power company said in a statement.

The companies are currently working together on tackling current challenges related to the problem of graphite reactors, and there are a number of areas related to human resources policy, and policy concerning handling of radioactive materials, Rosenergoatom's first deputy director for production and operation of NPP, Oleg Chernikov was reported as saying in the statement.

"We are currently also considering expanding cooperation, including on issues of the whole lifecycle of NPP operation, including decommissioning. And all this is just a part of our cooperation, the objective of which is to share experience for the safe and efficient operation of our plants," Chernikov said.
