Energy Ministry seeking unrealized capacity supply agreements for Crimea, Taman
MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - Russia's Energy Ministry is looking for unrealized projects covered by capacity supply agreements to transfer to construction of power plants in Crimea and Taman, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.
He said 1.67 GW of power plant capacity will be built in Crimea and Taman at a cost of 50 billion rubles. There are plans for the investment to be recouped within 10-15 years under a mechanism similar to a capacity supply agreement, taking into account a fixed return.
The minister did not rule out that existing agreements might be transferred to these projects. "We're looking for options," Novak said.
He also said that the construction in Crimea will be done by a subsidiary of state corporation Rostec. The contractor for the project in Taman is being selected. The 50 billion rubles will be raised from a pool of banks.
