Naryshkin calls anti-Russian sanctions instrument of political, economic pressure and blackmail
ASTANA (Kazakhstan). Nov 24 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has accused the West of holding an aggressive anti-Russian policy.
"As to the sanctions, our attitude is clear: these sanctions are nothing but an instrument of blatant political and economic pressure and blackmail and they definitely disagree with international legal norms and WTO regulations," Naryshkin said at an international conference titled "President. Parliament. Integration" in Astana on Monday.
He said the sanctions were "aggressive and illegal." "I would add that countries which call themselves law-governed simply have no right to act this way. This is indecent," the speaker emphasized.
It is important to develop bilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan and other CIS member countries under these circumstances, he said.
"Amid the escalating crisis phenomena on global markets, a drop of prices for energy resources and the aggressive and illegal policy of anti-Russian sanctions, our countries are presenting an example of rapid response to the emerging challenges," he said.
