Russia to allocate 5 Bln rubles for Abkhazia in 2015 - Putin

SOCHI, Russia. Nov 24 (Interfax) - Russia is to provide Abkhazia with 5 billion rubles in 2015 under a new accord, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday.

"New tasks and long-term guidelines have been set. They are supported by serious finance - 5 billion rubles is due to be allocated in 2015 for the implementation of the treaty," Putin said after he and Abkhaz President Raul Khajimba signed the Alliance and Strategic Partnership Treaty.

Putin said the treaty set guidelines for stepping up Russian-Abkhaz economic, social, cultural and defense- and security-related cooperation.

He said Russia is Abkhazia's main economic partner, with trade between the two countries having accounted for 63%, or a $214-million share, of Abkhazia's total foreign trade volume for the period from January to September 2014.
