No grounds for long-term competitive capacity selection - Energy Ministry deputy head

DZERZHINSKY. Nov 25 (Interfax) - At present there are no grounds for conducting a long-term competitive capacity selection, Deputy Energy Minister Vyacheslav Kravchenko told journalists on Tuesday.

"I do not see any grounds for conducting a long-term competitive capacity selection at this time," he said.

A long-term selection is predicted on the availability of a reliable long-term electricity consumption forecast.

"In the current situation, no one is in a position to make long-term forecasts, and the risks are great. The cost of error is high," Kravchenko said.

Moreover, the discussion on a new market model is not completed yet, he said.
