Yury Zhadobin relieved of duties as Belarus defense minister
MINSK. Nov 25 (Interfax) - Lt. Gen. Yury Zhadobin has been relieved of duties as the defense minister of Belarus upon reaching retirement age, the Belarusian presidential press service has told Interfax.
"Yury Zhadobin was relieved of his duties as defense minister and was transferred to the Army Reserve upon reaching the age of retirement. He retains the right to wear his military uniform and insignia. A relevant decree was signed by [Belarusian President Alexander] Lukashenko on November 25," the press service said.
Zhadobin was appointed to the post of Belarusian defense minister in December 2009. Prior to that, he held the posts of Belarusian Security Council secretary and director of the State Security Committee, as well as heading the Presidential Security Service.
