Belgrade hopes South Stream construction in Serbia will begin soon
MOSCOW. Nov 25 (Interfax) - Belgrade is hopeful that the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline will begin soon, Serbia's Ambassador to Russia Slavenko Terzic has said.
"Serbia expects the construction of South Stream to begin as soon as possible," the ambassador said at a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
For Serbia, the South Stream pipeline is a "project of national importance," the diplomat said.
However, "the start of construction depends on relations between Moscow and Brussels," he said.
The South Stream project is a guarantor of energy stability both for Serbia, Southeastern Europe and Central Europe as a whole, he added.
