Counterterrorist operation regulations imposed on Untsukul district in Dagestan in August lifted
MAKHACHKALA. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The operational staff in Dagestan has ruled to lift the counterterrorist operation regulations that it imposed on the Untsukul district in mid-August.
"The counterterrorist operation regulations have been lifted, as all measures carried out within their framework have been completed," the operational staff told Interfax.
Seven members of illegal armed units were killed in the Untsukul district while the counterterrorist regime was in effect. Dozens of dugouts and caches were destroyed, and several hundred kilos of explosives and components for manufacturing explosive devices, dozens of firearms, and thousands of ammunition rounds were seized.
It was reported earlier that security forces had surrounded several people suspected of belonging to illegal armed groups in a house in the community of Vremenny, the Untsukul district, on October 2. They refused to surrender, and seven gunmen were killed in an operation. A riot police task force member was also wounded in the process.
