Independent Petroleum Co to build ammonia complex in Taman
KRASNODAR. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Independent Petroleum Company (IPC), which was founded by former Rosneft president Eduard Khudainatov, plans to build a major complex in Taman to produce and transship ammonia for export to Europe and Asian markets, the press service of the Krasnodar regional administration said, citing IPC spokesman Alexander Demidov.
The company said it plans to become one of the investors in the Taman Industrial Zone, the press service said.
The regional administration, contacted by Interfax, did not specify the details of the project, and said an agreement on its implementation has not been signed yet.
Plans to build a similar complex at the Taman port were announced earlier by UralChem, which is controlled by Dmitry Mazepin. The Krasnodar regional administration said the company was prepared to invest 40 billion rubles in the project and that the complex could have capacity to produce 680,000 tonnes of ammonia.
The project to build the Taman port is at a high degree of readiness, Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said recently. In the spring, Kremlin aide Andrei Belousov proposed redirecting funding intended for Taman and the bridge across the Lena River to the construction of a bridge across Kerch Strait to Crimea. But money has been found for the project and there was no need to reduce investment, according to media reports.
