Media claims of Putin threatening Poroshenko over phone not true - press secretary

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - A Kremlin official denied Ukrainian media reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin had allegedly threatened his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko during their telephone conversation on Wednesday.

"Indeed, at the Ukrainian side's initiative, a telephone conversation took place yesterday between Poroshenko and Putin. As for a number of media reports that certain threats were allegedly voiced during this conversation, these reports are not true and do not correspond to reality," the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Interfax on Thursday.

During their telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and the situation in Ukraine's southeastern regions, Peskov said.

For her part, Iryna Friz, former head of the Ukrainian presidential administration's information policy department, told Interfax that the telephone conversation between the two presidents was "constructive and addressed issues that require urgent discussions."
