Twenty members of Ifa-Kozlov gang to face court in Komi

SYKTYVKAR. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Twenty members of the Vorkuta Ifa-Kozlov gang will stand trial in Komi on the counts of extortion, murder, banditry, fraud, hostage taking and others, the regional prosecution service reports.

A bill of indictment against Ifa-Kozlov gang leader Yuri Kozlov and 19 gang members has been approved.

The Komi Supreme Court will hear the merits of the case.

In all, there are 29 suspects in the Ifa-Kozlov gang case and 25 of them are in custody. The gang is charged with the crimes perpetrated between 1990 and 2000.

The case file comprises 486 volumes. A gang leader, Oleg Ifa, and three gang members were put on the international most wanted list.

Five gang members made plea bargains and were sentenced to long prison terms.
