Leaders of self-proclaimed Donbas republics ridicule expansion of EU sanction list
MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR) have ridiculed their inclusion in a European Union sanction list.
"In fact, nothing bad has happened. We are barred from vacationing in Europe, but somehow we have been able to do without it and will get over it now - it's not the right time for rest now. As for money issues, we don't have either money or accounts there, and so, as a matter of fact, this all is absolute nonsense and won't have any effect on our work," DPR Supreme Council deputy speaker Denis Pushilin told Interfax on Saturday.
Oleksiy Karyakin, the head of the LPR People's Council, said to Interfax that nobody in the republic's leadership is upset by being included in the sanction list. "We don't care. Anyway, we weren't going to travel to Europe. Surely, it is surprising that, in compiling such lists, they are unwilling to accept today's realities and start normal peace dialogue, which we have been asking for so long. However, I don't think it'll always be this way," Karyakin said.
