Militia dismiss army's claims of Donetsk airport fighting as unconfirmed rumors
KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Fighting is taking place near the new terminal at Donetsk Airport, according to the press center for the military operation conducted in eastern Ukraine.
The authorities in Kyiv claim that the attack was carried out by militias. First clashes at the airport began at 12 p.m. local time on Saturday, the press center wrote on Facebook.
Furthermore, militiamen shelled several populated areas in the Luhansk region and carried out several attacks against the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces which responded by firing back, the press center said
Meanwhile, a deputy speaker for the Donetsk People's Republic Supreme Council, Denis Pushilin, has dismissed claims by the Ukrainian military about the hostilities around the airport.
"All this are unconfirmed rumors. Everything is quiet and as usual at the airport," Pushilin told Interfax on Saturday evening.
