Belarus, Gazprom sign roadmap for gas motor fuel market development
MINSK. Dec 1 (Interfax) - OJSC Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gazprom in Belarus and LLC Gazprom Gas Motor Fuel have signed a roadmap for the development of the gas motor fuel market in Belarus, Gazprom Transgaz said in a press release.
"This project is aimed at developing production and supply infrastructure for compressed and liquefied natural gas, complex development of the gas motor fuel market in Belarus and the creation of international corridors for the transport and use of natural gas as a motor fuel," the release says.
"The roadmap envisages measures aimed at working with authorities to introduce stimulating mechanisms for the acquisition of equipment using natural gas and working with car manufacturers to develop natural gas vehicles. Thus, construction of gas refueling infrastructure will be synchronized with a gas motor transport program.
"Expanding the use of natural gas in transport will increase energy and environmental safety in the country, and make a significant contribution to increasing competitiveness in the economy by reducing fuel costs," Gazprom Transgaz Belarus CEO Vladimir Mayorov was quoted as saying.
LLC Gazprom Gas Motor Fuel is OJSC Gazprom's sole operator for the development of the gas motor fuel market. The company was established in December 2012.
OJSC Gazprom Transgaz Belarus supplies gas to consumers in Belarus. Trunk pipelines passing through Belarus ensure the transit of Russian natural gas to Kaliningrad region, Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland. The company manages 27 CNG filling stations.
