Russia, Turkey to boost trade based on national currencies - Putin
ANKARA. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey have reached an agreement to boost trade based on payments in the two countries' currencies, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Monday.
"We are stepping up our relations in the credit and finance sphere. We believe that it's especially important to build up trade in terms of the national currencies," Putin told a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"It's a goal that we will seek to achieve in every way, and we'll encourage the work of financial institutions both in Turkey and in Russia that will be involved in this," Putin said.
