Russian electricity consumption up 4.9% in Nov at 93.6 bln kWh
MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) - Electricity consumption in Russia increased 4.9% year-on-year in November to 93.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), OJSC System Operator reported.
Power consumption in Russia's unified energy system (UES) was 91.6 billion kWh, up 5% year-on-year.
Russian power plants generated 94.8 billion kWh, up 4.9%, while generation in the UES in November came to 92.8 billion kWh, up 5%.
Thermal power plants generated 60.7 billion kWh of electricity in November, up 13.1% year-on-year; hydropower plants generated 10.9 billion kWh, down 24%; and nuclear plants - 16.2 billion kWh, up 3.6%. Power plants owned by industrial enterprises produced 5 billion kWh, up 5.1%.
Maximum capacity consumption in November 2014 was 145.58 GW, which is 5.8% higher than the October 2014 maximum and 6.1% higher than the capacity consumption maximum in November 2013.
Overall power consumption in Russia was 933.6 billion kWh in January-November 2014, up 0.2% year-on-year. In the UES, consumption was 914.3 billion kWh in the 11M. Power generation fell 0.2% in January-November in Russia as a whole (943.1 billion kWh) and in the UES (-0.2% to 923.8 billion kWh).
