Putin signs law ratifying CSTO agreement on hidden control system

MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill ratifying an agreement on the main principles of creating a system of hidden control over forces and equipment of the collective-security system of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the president's press office said on Tuesday.

The bill was passed by the State Duma on November 21 and approved by the Federation Council on November 26, 2014. The agreement ratified by the federal law was signed in Moscow on June 14, 2009.

The hidden-control system is designed to ensure the secrecy of the control over the forces and equipment of the CSTO's collective-security system, the statement said.

The ratification of the agreement is consistent with Russia's aim to further reinforce the collective-security system and its implementation will not entail extra costs to the federal budget, the statement said. All types of support for the system, including its funding, will be provided within the earmarks envisaged by the federal budget for the relevant financial year of the Russian Defense Ministry.
