Georgian foreign minister denies replacement of ambassador to Ukraine
TBILISI. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Georgian Foreign Minister Tamara Beruchashvili has denied the reports released by some Georgian media on the replacement of Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikheil Ukleb with Zviad Jankarashvili, executive secretary of the ruling coalition Georgian Dream.
Some media earlier reported, citing unnamed sources in the Georgian administration, that the country's administration is unhappy with Ukleb's work due to the appointment f Alexander Kvitashvili, former healthcare minister of Georgia, to the post of healthcare minister of Ukraine and the activities by Georgia's former president Mikheil Saakashvili in Kyiv.
"Ambassador to Ukraine Mikheil Ukleb is now in Kyiv and the information on his replacement is not true. He is actively involved in the preparations for the official visit by the Georgian prime minister to Ukraine, which is scheduled for early 2015," Beruchashvili, who is now on a visit to Brussels, told the Georgian media on Wednesday.
Beruchashvili asked the media not to raise a commotion about Kvitashvili's appointment to the post of minister in Ukraine. "The strategic relations between Georgia and Ukraine, especially with regard for the new challenges in the region, are much more important that the appointment of one or two ministers," Beruchashvili said.
