Condoning of human rights abuse hampers Ukraine's reconciliation prospects - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - The neglect towards human rights violations in Ukraine hampers the political stabilization in this country and encourages extremist and radical activities, Russian Foreign Ministry's Human Rights Commissioner Konstantin Dolgov said.

"If the international community allows impunity for the crimes committed during the Ukrainian conflict, the consequences will be most negative both for prospects of national reconciliation in Ukraine proper, as well as from the viewpoint of countering impunity in a broader international context," Dolgov told a press conference held on Wednesday on the occasion of the release of the third edition of "The White Book" on human rights violations in Ukraine.

Russia will continue "seeking an objective inquiry into the Kyiv snipers, the tragedy of people being burnt alive at the house of trade unions in Odesa, the execution of civilians in Mariupol, the Malaysian airliner crash, the discovery of mass graves in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the killing of children by artillery shells, the disproportionate use of force and the use of prohibited types of weapons," the official said.

"Regrettably, the Ukrainian authorities has never conducted a serious, let alone objective inquiry into all these facts, in any of these crimes," Dolgov said.

"This pushes [us] towards very unpleasant conclusions," he said.
