No comment from Belarusian State Security Committee on detention of spy in Lithuania
MINSK. Dec 3 (Interfax) - The Belarusian State Security Committee is not prepared to comment on Lithuanian media reports of the detention of a Lithuanian Armed Forces paramedic for spying for Belarus.
"We refuse to make any comment," head of the committee's press service Artur Strekh told Interfax on Wednesday.
Earlier reports quoting the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office said that a former paramedic of the Lithuanian Armed forces living in Kaunas had been detained and taken into custody on January 24 and charged with spying for Belarus.
A Prosecutor General's Office press release said that the Lithuanian had been recruited by the Main Intelligence Department of the Belarusian General Staff and had been selling information to Belarus for five years.
The press release claims that the Belarusian Main Intelligence Department showed interest in the Lithuanian Armed Forces' armaments, military vehicles and buildings, participation in NATO international operations, plans of standard operations, various military exercises, the composition of concrete units and services, and the personal qualities and morale of servicemen.
