DPR negotiator hopes to discuss humanitarian situation, Donbas special status in Minsk
MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - The leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic intends to discuss the humanitarian situation in the region during the next round of consultations of the trilateral Contact Group for Ukraine in Minsk, Denis Pushilin, DPR Supreme Council deputy speaker and the self-proclaimed republic's chief negotiator at these meetings, told Interfax on Thursday.
"The main topics will be steps to end this genocide, in other words, the need to implement the Minsk memorandum's point warning against any further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region. We also plan to discuss special status for Donbas. In my opinion, we should start with it," Pushilin said.
The heads of the DPR and the Luhansk People's Republic will most likely send their special envoys to the talks in Minsk, he said.
"The specially appointed representatives, not the republics' heads, will most likely go to these consultations," Pushilin said, confirming his plans to attend the meeting in Minsk.
"Indeed, I hold the post of deputy speaker of the DPR Supreme Council, but I also remain the [DPR] special envoy to these negotiations," he said.
