DPR announces readiness to support "Quiet Day" on Dec 9

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is ready to abide by the December 9 truce, provided Ukraine does the same, DPR Supreme Council member Miroslav Rudenko told Interfax.

"Donbas has always advocated peace. Certainly, we are open to any peace initiative, including the so-called Quiet Day and are ready to observe the truce," he said.

In the meantime, the militiamen are hoping the ceasefire will be observed mutually, Rudenko said.

"We will observe the ceasefire provided Ukraine does as well. If they see the Quiet Day as a way to continue shelling our cities unpunished and that we won't respond to their provocations, then it won't work. If they continue shelling us, we will respond," Rudenko said.
