Ukrainian politicians' remarks over Grozny attack justify terrorism - RIC
MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Russian investigative authorities have launched an inquiry into several Ukrainian politicians over their remarks on the December 4 events in Grozny, Russian Investigative Committee (RIC) spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax.
"The RIC Main Investigative Directorate has launched an inquiry into the claims made by several Ukrainian politicians with regard to the December 4 events in Grozny," Markin said.
The RIC sees these claims as "a public justification of terrorism," he said.
Once the inquiry is completed, "a relevant procedural decision will be made," Markin said.
"Since mass media were used in the dissemination of this information, the sanctions of the aforesaid Criminal Code article imposed up to seven years of imprisonment," he said
It was reported that eleven militants were killed during an attempted raid in Grozny in the early hours of Thursday. Fourteen law enforcement officers were killed during the special operation to eliminate the criminals.
