Russia denies negotiating plane landing with Nigeria

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - The landing of a Russian cargo plane in Nigeria detained by the country's authorities had not been agreed upon beforehand and was unexpected, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"There were no preliminary talks with the Nigerians, and the landing in Kano was unexpected, as the airport in the capital of Chad turned out to be closed," the ministry said on its website.

"Currently, we are resolving the matter of continuing the flight to the point of destination," the ministry said.
