DPR wants to promote economic ties with Russia and Customs Union

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) believe that the future of Donbas lies with the Customs Union, formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

"We are interested in seeking our maximum integration with serious associations such as the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union," DPR People's Council Speaker Andrei Purgin told Interfax.

The self-proclaimed republic is unruffled by Kyiv's plans to leave the Commonwealth of Independent States, Purgin said.

"If they want to quit, let them do so. We have our own policy. We intend to move towards maximum cooperation with Russia," he added.
