LPR head claims truce being observed in self-proclaimed republic
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - The truce regime has not been violated in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), the republic's head Igor Plotnitsky told the Novorossiya news agency.
"So far, the ceasefire regime is being observed and not violated. The regime was put into place at 10 a.m. but we still had some shooting incidents in the morning. We shall see whether the regime can be complied with," Plotnitsky said.
He said that the militia would respond to possible violations. "The truce deal is a step to meet each other halfway. But if this regime fails our gunpowder will be kept dry," Plotnitsky noted.
A truce agreement between the militia and the Ukrainian army achieved with the OSCE mediation was enacted in Donbas at 10 a.m. Moscow time (9 a.m. local time). The truce is supposed to precede a new round of Contact Group negotiations in Minsk.
