Russia to ban imports from Oshmyansky Meat Plant from Dec 11

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russian agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor will on December 11 impose a ban on imports from Belarus Oshmyansky Meat Plant.

The ban is due to the detection of the African Swine Fever virus genome in sausage products, which is an infringement of Customs Union and Russian veterinary and sanitary requirements.

Oshmyansky Meat Plant has become the eighth Belarusian company on which an import ban has been imposed because of detection of the ASF virus genome.

Rosselkhoznadzor says the virus could have entered the products because of processing meat from infected animals, including imported animals.
