Kazakhstan, Russia agree information exchange to solve problem of goods transit from Belarus
MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and Russia will exchange information over the course of the week in order to eliminate the problem of goods transiting from Belarus, Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev told journalists.
"The question concerning transit of our food shipments through Belarus and Russia to Kazakhstan has some problematic aspects. Our freight cannot get to us, because in the territory, on the border, there are questions," he said.
Under the agreement reached at talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich on Tuesday, Kazakhstan will provide Russia with a complete list of importers of food products and transport companies, he said.
"In accordance with this list, the Russian side will present a 'green corridor.' I think that over the course of the week we will exchange this information and this problem will be completely resolved," Sagintayev said.
The Russian agencies that oversee trade have repeatedly pointed to the possibility of shipping embargoed food products into Russia, notably through Belarus.
