Snowden movie could be released in fall of 2015 - lawyer

MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - The filming of a thriller inspired by events around the former NSA agent Edward Snowden will begin in January 2015, and the film could premiere as early as next fall, Anatoly Kucherena, the lawyer for the American fugitive, told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The shooting begins in January, it will take place in Munich," Kucherena said.

The film's script is based on his novel, Time of the Octopus, and the book by the Guardian correspondent Luke Harding, "The Snowden Files: the Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man."

Whether the film will also be shot in some other cities will be decided by famous U.S film director Oliver Stone (who bought the copyright to the "Time of the Octopus" novel) later, Kucherena said.

The lawyer said he is planning to travel to Germany in January, when the exact schedule for the film release will be decided

"The plan includes 55 shooting days, I think the film will be ready somewhere around the fall of 2015," Kucherena said.

Snowden himself continues working in Russia and is studying Russian, he said.

"For now everything is the same with the job too, he continues studying the Russian language," said Kucherena, adding that his client was the first one to have read the Time of the Octopus.

When asked by Interfax whether Snowden is planning to marry, his lawyer said "Not yet."

It was reported earlier that Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been cast in the leading role in the film.
