RusHydro still interested in tender to build Upper Siang HPP in India
MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - RusHydro is still interested in the tender for the construction of the Upper Siang Hydropower Plant in Indian, one of the largest hydropower projects in Asia and the largest in India, the Russian company told Interfax.
"In March of this year RusHydro announced plans to participate in the tender for the construction of Upper Siang HPP. The tender was not officially announced. The RusHydro Group plans to bid in the tender in accordance with Indian legislation and given the absence of conflicts of interest," the company said.
RusHydro is designing the second phase of Upper Siang, with installed capacity of 3,750 MW, with NEEPCO.
During President Vladimir Putin's visit to India this week RusHydro signed an agreement on prospective areas of cooperation with the authorities of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, where the project will be carried out. The administrative of the Indian state expressed interest in implementing joint educational projects.
RusHydro is also interested in participating in other projects in India, but this concerns the implementation of the company's engineering strategy, not investment, a company spokesman said, noting that northwest India has the most hydro potential in the country.
