Nearly 19 mln tonnes of grain exported from Russia since July 1

MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Russia exported 18.961 million tonnes of grain between July 1 and December 10, up 32.5% year-on-year, the Russia's Agriculture Ministry said, citing operational data from the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

Wheat accounted for most exports, 15.096 million tonnes, while barley exports totaled 2.756 million tonnes and corn - 892,000 tonnes. Exports of other crops totaled 217,000 tonnes.

Exports totaled 1.012 million tonnes on December 1-10, including 729,000 tonnes of wheat, 182,000 tonnes of barley, 77,000 tonnes of corn and 24,000 tonnes of other crops.

The Agriculture Ministry is worried by the high export rates of grain. The ministry is currently discussing options for raising intervention grain prices in order to boost purchases to the state intervention fund and lower exports.

According to the ministry's forecast, this year's export potential is around 30 million tonnes.
