Kyiv should stop provoking Donbas secession - Lavrov
MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Moscow hopes that the government in Kyiv will stop pushing Donbas towards secession and launch a dialogue instead, says Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"I am very hopeful that the steps being made by the Ukrainian government to provoke a Donbas secession will be stopped and that Kyiv's course will be replaced by dialogue with Donbas and negotiating of agreements that will ensure equal and respectful co-existence in Ukraine of all its citizens and all of its regions," he said in an interview with Interfax on Monday.
The foreign minister pointed to the need for Ukraine to conduct constitutional reform. "I will stress once again that it is necessary to insist on Ukraine honoring the obligation it assumed back in April to conduct a comprehensive transparent constitutional reform involving all the regions and all political forces," the minister said.
