UTLC mulls sea+air cargo shipment projects in UAE, Russia
MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC), Dubai Cargo Village and Dubai International Airport Cargo Gateway are looking at sea+air cargo shipments to United Arab Emirates and Russia, Russian Railways (RZD) , the main owner of UTLC, said in a press release.
UTLC, Rais Hassan Saadi Group (RHS) and Cargo and Logistics Dubai Airports (C&L) signed a memorandum of intent in Dubai on December 10, the release said. The memorandum envisages the possibility of organizing intermodal shipments from Russia and CIS countries to Persian Gulf countries (UAE, Iran) and India. The agreement will enable quality and efficiency of logistics for clients and joint participation in projects for industrial companies, financial and investment organizations in Russia, UAE, Iran and India, RZD said.
Shipments will go between Moscow and Persian Gulf countries (UAE and Iran) via the Caspian Sea (Astrakhan) and also Central Asia (Astana, Almaty, Tashkent, Bishkek and other cities).
In addition, UTLC, RHS and C&L are willing to exchange experience and use of IT systems, allowing real-time monitoring and management of multimodal shipments, optimization of logistics and better service quality. The Russian Chamber of Commerce logistics committee also worked on the agreement.
