Avtovaz to increase sales by 20% in 2015 - Samara governor

SAMARA. Dec 17 (Interfax) - OJSC Avtovaz intends to increase its sales by 20% in 2015, Samara Region Governor Nikolai Merkushkin said during an annual message to the deputies of the Samara Regional Duma and residents of the region.

"Lately there has been a revival in demand for the products of the factory and work is being lined up in a new format with domestic suppliers of automobile components. In 2015 the plant is planning to increase sales by 20%," Merkushkin said.

Avtovaz President Bo Andersson told journalists that Avtovaz planned to boost output by approximately 20% in 2015. Growth next year will be driven primarily by contractual assembly of models for the Renault-Nissan Alliance, including the Renault Logan, Renoult Sandero and Datsun. In addition, there will be a big increase in production thanks to the release of the Lada Vesta (scheduled for September 2015).

A source told Interfax that Avtovaz planned to increase production by 27.2% to 692,000 vehicles in 2015.

Meanwhile, for 2014, Avtovaz is expecting an 18.3% drop in sales in comparison to 2013 to 437,000 automobiles, including 385,000 that are planned to be sold on the domestic market and another 52,000 to be sent for export.
