Russia will heed Serbia's interests as it considers new routes for delivering energy to Europe - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has promised that Moscow will do its best to take Serbia's interests into account as it considers new routes for transporting energy resources to Europe.

"We expressed our mutual content with the state of our cooperation and reaffirmed our commitment to deepening it further. It also concerns the energy sector, including deliveries of Russian gas and including Serbia's interest in the implementation of new routes for delivering Russian energy resources to Europe," Lavrov said at a press conference after a meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic in Moscow on Friday.

"We discussed the situation surrounding the South Stream. And I am convinced that the decisions that will be made in the new conditions will heed the interests of Serbia. At least, we will do everything in our power for this," he said.
