Nazarbayev ready to act as "honest manager" in Ukraine peace process
ASTANA. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev is ready to provide assistance in resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
"I think for everyone the task now is to stop this war, bolster the independence of Ukraine proper, recognize the integrity of Ukrainian territory, of which the Russian leaders are speaking today, and sit down at the negotiating table," he said in an interview shown on national television channels on Sunday evening.
"The task I am working on now, of which I want to convince everyone and tell Europe (...), if I can help in some way, I think that Kazakhstan treats both Russia and Ukraine equally, we have no conflicts of interests, I am what you call an honest manager who supports neither side, is neutral and who can make some contribution. This is (my) good will," Nazarbayev said.
