Russian naval ships enter Suez Canal

MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk and medium-sized sea tanker Dubna began their passage through the Suez Canal on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry has reported.

"Within the next few days, the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk is expected to start to fulfill its duties to ensure the safety of civilian navigation in Gulf of Aden and off the Horn of Africa coast in the Red Sea," the Russian Northern Fleet said in a press release, seen by Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
