SAP invests 20 mln euro in creation of own data center in Moscow
MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax) -SAP CIS (the Russian division of Germany's software developer, SAP AG) has invested 20 million euro in the creation in Russia of its own data processing center to provide cloud services to Russian clients, SAP SE president for Central and Eastern Europe Michael Kleinemeier said at the opening ceremony of the data center in Moscow.
"In July 2013 we began to discuss the possibility of organizing a data processing center in Russia, because we observed large demand for cloud services from Russian clients," Kleinemeier said. "We worked out a business foundation of the project and began to search for a partner, who in the end was Rostelecom ."
SAP's data processing center will operate at the site of the National Research Center Kurchatovsky Institute. A project company of SAP and Rostelecom is building the data processing center.
To date, a "sales funnel" has been created for the data processing center's services: "There is already a list of real and potential clients," Kleinemeier said.
