Court passes ruling on arrest of owner of Swiss co in absentia in relation to Togliattiazot case
MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Moscow's Basmanny district court has passed a judgment in absentia on the arrest of Andreas Zivy, owner of the Swiss company Ameropa AG, who is a suspect in a fraud cause launched against the leadership of OJSC Togliattiazot ammonia producer.
"The court upheld the motion for taking Andres Zivy into custody in absentia," press secretary of the court Anna Fadeyeva told Interfax on Wednesday.
She said the suspect was declared internationally wanted.
Fadeyeva said that on Thursday the court will decide on the measure of restraint regarding another suspect in the case, the key owner of Togliattiazot Vladimir Makhlai.
On Tuesday the district court supported a similar motion with regard to Togliattiazot Board Chairman, U.S. citizen Sergei Makhlai charged with large-scale fraud by a group of people.
Meanwhile, the company finds the criminal prosecution of the chairman of its Board of Directors groundless and will take every legal step for the triumph of justice, Interfax was told at the Russian ammonia producer.
