EU not giving serious help either to south-east Ukraine or Kyiv - Russian envoy

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The European Union is not extending any significant support to Ukraine, Russia's Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov has said.

"There is no serious assistance for the Ukrainian government. It is only words. Providing export guarantees was the farthest they could go," Chizhov said during a video-link with Moscow on Friday.

The EU has not been sending any humanitarian aid to Ukraine's south-eastern regions either, the high-ranking diplomat said.

"The EU is not sending humanitarian aid," he said.

"The situation will remain complex for a certain period," Chizhov said.

"Russia is trying to ease this situation as far as its possibilities permit," he added.
