Russia's 2010 military doctrine decree no longer valid
MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree overturning the document "On the military doctrine of the Russian Federation," dated February 5, 2010.
"To recognize the Russian presidential decree N146 'On the military doctrine of the Russian Federation' of February 5, 2010, as being no longer in force," the document posted on the official legal news website read.
The new decree is effective from the date of signing, December 25, 2014.
Speaking at a recent meeting of senior defense officials Putin said there will be changes to the country's military doctrine.
The doctrine remains a defensive document, despite the rise in NATO activities in Eastern Europe, the president said.
"Nevertheless, our military doctrine has not changed and is known to be purely defensive, but with regard to our security our response will be tough and consistent," said the head of state.
