Ukrainian shell hit private house in Donetsk - militia
DONETSK/KYIV. Jan 1 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian military opened fire on the Kuybyshevsky district of Donetsk in the past 24 hours, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
"We currently know of just one attack, which occurred around 2:00 p.m. on December 31. A munition hit a private house," a ministry official said.
There is currently no information on casualties.
In the meantime, sources in Kyiv said the positions of the Ukrainian military came under fire eight times from firearms and mortars in the early hours of January 1. The press center for the military operation said on Facebook that the populated areas of Trekhizbenka, Nizhne, Avdiyivka, Chermalik and the outskirts of Nikishino came under fire, "the outskirts of Mayorsk and Shumov came under mortar fire," and an exchange of fire occurred in Petrovskoye.
Three drone planes were seen on the Mariupol track in the early hours of January 1, the press center said.
In the meantime, Hennadiy Moskal, the head of the Luhansk region's administration, said a civilian was killed and two civilians were wounded in an attack on the village of Chernukhino, Popasna district of the Luhansk region, on Thursday morning.
A report posted on Moskal's website also says there was a power outage in village of Luhanska in the early hours of January 1. Power supply was resumed in the morning, but the heating systems were affected. Housing and utilities services are now working to determine the scale of the damage.
