Ukrainian forces blame Donbas militia for shelling their positions

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian forces have blamed the Donbas militia for launching 18 attacks on their positions last night using heavy artillery systems.

"Illegal armed groups violated the ceasefire 18 times last night, shelling the populated areas of Novotoshkovske, Chornukhyne, Ozeryanovka and Nikyshyne with grenade launchers, and launching two artillery attacks on the new terminal of the Donetsk airport. The town of Schastye came under mortar fire twice," the press center of the military operation said on Facebook on Sunday morning.

The towns of Tryohizbenka, Novomihailovka and Pisky, and the thermal power plant in Schastye were targeted in artillery fire, as well.

"The militants shelled the town of Krymske using Grad multiple launchers, and pounded Kryakovke, Tyoploye and the weather monitoring tower of the Donetsk airport," the press center said.

"The Ukrainian forces have been observing the ceasefire unilaterally, responding adequately to each threat, however, sparing civilians," it said.
