RZD's freight tariffs indexed at 10% this year after one-year freeze

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - The domestic freight tariffs of Russian Railways (RZD) have been indexed at 10% for 2015 after a one-year freeze.

This decision was confirmed by Russia's Federal Tariff Service in early December in accordance with decisions made by the Russian government concerning 2015-2017 tariffs.

RZD will be able to independently change the cost of shipments within a so-called tariff corridor. Since 2013, the railway monopoly has had the right to vary the cost of its services within the corridor between minus (-) 12.8% and plus (+) 13.4% of the level set by the Federal Tariff Service, which also sets the pricing limits of the corridor.

It is planned that freight tariffs will be indexed at 5.5% in 2016 and 4.5% in 2017.
