Curt Steel becomes head of U.S. subsidiary of Techsnabexport

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Curt Steel has been appointed president of Tenam Corporation, a U.S. subsidiary of Russian company Techsnabexport, after the arrest of Tenam president Vadim Mikerin in the United States on an extortion conspiracy charge, a Techsnabexport source has told Interfax.

Steel was previously deputy chief executive of Tenam.

Mikerin was accused of accepting a bribe of more than $1.6 million from two U.S. nationals in return for contracts for their firm for which they would not have had to compete.

The Techsnabexport source said Mikerin's contract with Tenam expired on October 31, 2014, the day his arrest was reported by U.S. law enforcement, and that Mikerin had not extended it.

Steel was appointed acting president of Tenam and late last year received definitive appointment as president.

Techsnabexport, which operates internationally under the name Tenex, is a 100% subsidiary of Atomenergoprom, part of the Rosatom state corporation. It exports uranium and provides uranium enrichment services.
