Russia to finalize deployment of Arctic defense infrastructure in 2015
MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has begun the final stage of building military infrastructures in the Arctic, Deputy Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Dmitry Bulgakov said after the first teleconference of the Defense Ministry in 2015.
"All infrastructure elements of the Russian Defense Ministry in the Arctic zone will be ready in 2015. We resumed work on January 3 and did not stop even for the holidays," he told reporters on Tuesday.
A base of the 80th Arctic brigade has been constructed in Alakurtti, Murmansk region, Bulgakov said.
"The Alakurtti military camp is ready to accommodate servicemen. The first 797 men arrived here yesterday, on January 12, 2015, for military service in this populated locality," he noted.
