Lavrov: bus attack in Donbas must be thoroughly probed before accusing anyone
MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Moscow calls to wait for the results of the investigation into the attack on a bus in southeastern Ukraine before blaming one of the sides, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.
"There are reports that point to the existence of several theories behind the incident but they must be thoroughly studied before pointing a finger at anyone the way our Western and Ukrainian colleagues like to do," he said at a press conference following his talks with Burundian Foreign Minister Laurent Kavakure.
"We strongly hope that there will be an objective, impartial investigation. The UN Security Council unanimously spoke out for it," he added.
Lavrov stressed that Moscow also insists on an objective and impartial investigation of the tragedy.
"We expect that the OSCE mission that is now at the scene to honestly conduct all the due measures [required for the investigation]," he said.
He added that Russia is concerned about the recent violations of the ceasefire in southeastern Ukraine.
"The ceasefire regime that seemed to have started taking root is being violated. In the past few days shelling has assumed a massive, regular nature," Lavrov said.
