Russian Defense Ministry denies Kyiv's claims of Russian troops crossing into Ukraine

MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Kyiv's claims of the alleged crossing of Russian troops and military hardware into Ukraine are wrong, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

"Yesterday's claims of Kyiv about the alleged sending of units of the Russian Armed Forces across the Russian-Ukrainian border do not hold water. That is total absurdity," Konashenkov told reporters on Tuesday.

"The NSDC said without a second thought in the afternoon that Russian troops had been allegedly seen crossing into the Luhansk region. Several hours later, the head of the Ukrainian government said with a face worthy of a better cause, referring to the same "data" of the NSDC, that Russian "troops and hardware had been detected" in the Donetsk region," Konashenkov said.

"Such hallucinations about "a Russian invasion" of leading ideologists of the military solution to the internal conflict in southeastern Ukraine are hardly accidental," the general said.
